GYLA Chairperson: Mzia Amaglobeli has not received food since her arrest

According to the Chairperson of the Georgian Young Lawyers Association, Nona Kurdovanidze, the founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, Mzia Amaglobeli, has not received food since her arrest. As Nona Kurdovanidze stated at today's press conference, Mzia Amaglobeli receives only water.

As she explained, this is a form of protest by Mzia Amaglobeli against her illegal detention.

"Today I had the opportunity to meet Mzia Amaglobeli. She feels strong and is ready to fight. I would also like to add that she has not received food since her arrest, she is only receiving water and continues to fight in this way. This is a form of protest," Kurdovanidze stated.

According to her, the prison administration has been informed about the hunger strike. In addition, according to Kurdovanidze, Mzia Amaglobeli feels well and has not required medical assistance yet.

For information, the Batumi City Court ordered pre-trial detention for Mzia Amaglobeli, the founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti.

Mzia Amaglobeli is charged under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which refers to assault on a police officer. Mzia Amaglobeli was initially detained under administrative law during a protest at the main police department in Batumi, and was released after about two hours. A few minutes after her release, he was detained again.
