CEC: "Fair Elections" is using the structural reorganization implemented in the election administration to discredit the agency

The CEC calls the statement of the head of the “ISFED” organization as unfounded and unsubstantiated, that “the reorganization in the CEC was of a formal nature and did not meet the standards established by law.”

The election administration explains that the ongoing reorganization in the agency was based on existing needs and challenges and calls on interested parties “not to mislead the public and not to contribute to the discrediting of the election administration based on personal or political motives.”

“Today, the head of the non-governmental organization “ISFED” made a completely unfounded and unsubstantiated statement that the reorganization in the CEC was of a formal nature and did not meet the standards established by law, while “ISFED” did not request any information from the CEC regarding the reorganization and, accordingly, does not possess complete information regarding the process.

It seems that the organization, in its usual biased standard, relied on the statements of only one party in its statement and did not consider it necessary to thoroughly study all the circumstances related to the reorganization.

Unfortunately, the biased attitude of "Fair Elections" towards the election administration is not new. The society well remembers the erroneous publication of the results of the parallel count in 2020 and the failure to acknowledge this error in a timely manner, which led to the polarization and radicalization of the process. And in 2024, the recognition of the results of the same count, but not publication, which also raised a number of questions and contributed to the further radicalization of the process.

Even now, despite the fact that the CEC has issued a number of statements and explained to both employees and the public the basis for the ongoing reorganization in the agency, which clearly stemmed from existing needs and challenges, interested parties continue to manipulate the issue. Talking about the fact that the dismissal of employees was due to support for the country's European integration course is offensive to every employee of the administration, since, if such a reason existed, no employee would remain at any level of the election administration. The election administration remains committed to the country's European integration process and constantly adheres to the highest professional standards.

We would like to clarify to the public once again that this is not the first case of reorganization. In accordance with existing practice, the election administration periodically, including after the election cycle, analyzes the activities carried out, and based on existing needs, the CEC makes various decisions, including personnel decisions.

Statements of this type are categorically unacceptable for the election administration. We call on interested parties not to mislead the public and not to contribute to the discrediting of the election administration based on personal or political motives. Each decision of the Central Election Commission is and will continue to be based only on legal principles and the needs that ensure the conduct of elections in the country in accordance with democratic standards,” the statement says.

For your information, according to the statement of Nino Dolidze, the chairwoman of the “International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy”, the reorganization of the CEC was carried out in a hasty and unjustified manner, “the structural problems were not investigated, the shortcomings were not assessed, and the real reasons for the reorganization are actually unknown.

“The changes did not serve the real functional transformation of the CEC and were aimed at dismissing specific individuals,” Dolidze said.
