The Chairman of the Central Election Commission and the members of the CEC will receive state compensation

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission and the members of the CEC will receive state compensation.

This initiative belongs to the deputies of the "Georgian Dream" faction. A draft law has been introduced in Parliament, according to which the Chairman/member of the CEC will be entitled to compensation upon reaching the age of 65 or if they have at least 25 years of total work experience, provided they were a continuous member of the CEC for 5 years.

The amount of the CEC member's compensation will be determined as one-third of the CEC member's official salary.

State compensation will not be granted to a CEC member who has a final court decision confirming a violation of electoral legislation.

The author and initiators of the bill are Members of Parliament: Givi Mikhanadze, Archil Gorduladze, Aleksandre Tabatadze, Davit Matikashvili, Rati Ionatamishvili, Tornike Cheishvili, Aluda Gudushauri, Tengiz Sharmanashvili, and Guram Macharashvili.
