Givi Miqanadze: Radicals see that the truth is not on their side, and that is precisely why their unprecedented mobilization in Strasbourg is happening. We will present specific arguments in today’s debates

Givi Miqanadze: Once again, a public statement was made by the radical opposition that primarily contradicts the interests of the country and our society. Our delegation and ruling team have always approached the country's and society's interests responsibly, and for us, this is always our number one priority. This is how the Chairman of the Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Committee, Givi Miqanadze, responds to the letter sent by opposition parties to the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and parliamentary factions, requesting that the parliamentary delegation of Georgia not have its mandate confirmed in the Assembly.

As Miqanadze points out, the opposition knows that the truth is not on their side, and they are afraid that the ruling party will present arguments backed by facts.

"Most importantly, we see that the radicals and the related NGO sector realize that the truth is not on their side, and that is exactly why they are mobilizing in Strasbourg in an unprecedented way. They are afraid that we will voice the truth, which is based on specific arguments, and we will present to our European colleagues information that is supported by arguments and facts, in contrast to the absurd and unfounded information that has been presented by the opposition and the NGO sector for the past three months in an attempt to create this false perception," Miqanadze said.

He also noted that the Georgian delegation is doing and will continue to do everything to ensure that Georgia's interests are maximally protected.

"It is difficult to predict in advance how events will unfold, but we can assure the public that the Georgian delegation is doing and will continue to do everything to ensure that Georgia's interests are maximally protected. As important as it is for Georgia to actively participate in the key structural units of this international organization, and the Georgian delegation has always been distinguished by its significant contribution within this organization, it is also very important to continue the relationship with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. This is a truly important political platform for dialogue and discussion of various issues, but it must be a dialogue and discussions based on justice and oriented toward principles that aim for a just decision. Therefore, when we present specific arguments today during the debate in front of our European colleagues, the principle of justice requires that this be appropriately accepted, and the specific decision should be based on these principles of justice," Givi Miqanadze emphasized.
