The Council of the European Union has decided to suspend parts of the EU-Georgia visa facilitation agreement, according to a press release from the Council.
The suspension of the visa facilitation agreement will apply to the following categories:
"Georgian citizens who hold ordinary passports will still benefit from visa-free travel to the EU for short stays," the press release states.
The Council explains that once the partial suspension of the EU-Georgia visa facilitation agreement comes into effect—and given that Georgian citizens are exempt from visa requirements—member states may decide to introduce national measures requiring visas for holders of diplomatic, service/official, and special passports.
