Media representatives are holding a protest at the General Prosecutor's Office, demanding the release of Mzia Amaghlobeli

Media representatives are holding a protest at the General Prosecutor's Office demanding the release of Mzia Amaghlobeli, founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti.

The protesters are carrying posters and banners with Mzia Amaghlobeli's image and the slogan "Freedom for Mzia Amaghlobeli."

Their demand is the release of journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli, citing serious health risks following her 16-day hunger strike. They hold the authorities accountable for her well-being.

The protesters are calling on the General Prosecutor, Giorgi Gabitashvili, to file a new motion in court to secure Mzia Amaghlobeli's release.

The demonstrators are chanting, "Freedom for Mzia Amaghlobeli," "Freedom for political prisoners," and "Down with oligarchy."

For context, Batumi City Court ordered pre-trial detention for Mzia Amaghlobeli, a decision made by Judge Nino Sakhelashvili. Amaghlobeli has been charged under Article 353 Prima of the Criminal Code, which involves assaulting a police officer. She was initially detained administratively and later arrested on criminal charges during a protest near the main police department in Batumi.

Mzia Amaghlobeli has been on a hunger strike since her arrest, and today marks the 16th day.
