Iulian Bulai - Everything that happened in Georgia after the parliamentary elections puts the legitimacy of the elections under question, said the head of the PACE delegation, Iulian Bulai, at the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
"The situation in Georgia after the elections is alarming. The country is moving toward autocracy, and the situation has not improved since the elections. I want to take this opportunity to make two calls: the first is the release of 53 political prisoners. One of them, a journalist, has been on a hunger strike for 16 days. The second is that everything that has happened since the elections puts the legitimacy of these elections under question, and this allows this assembly to call on the Georgian government, in dialogue with all forces, to work toward new elections so that the government can have more legitimacy for governance and the parliament can function. Also, deputies from both the opposition and the government were present here," said Iulian Bulai.
