Mikheil Kavelashvili: The threat of the country’s destruction has not disappeared yet – Anti-Georgian forces still remain, and they spare no effort to destabilize Georgia

The threat of the country's destruction has not disappeared yet. Anti-Georgian forces still remain, and they spare no effort to destabilize Georgia, - this was stated by Mikheil Kavelashvili, elected by the electoral college to the post of president, during his address to the parliament at the spring session.

Kavelashvili said that the threat will remain until the war in Ukraine ends and “groups carrying out the interests of foreign countries in Georgia are weakened.”

“The threat will remain high until, in my opinion, the war in Ukraine ends and the groups carrying out foreign interests in Georgia are further weakened. Over the past few years, our state has responded firmly to numerous attempts to involve us in war, destabilize the country, and trigger revolution. We could call these years a period of survival for Georgia, which unfortunately is not over yet. It is important to emphasize that the main role in saving the country was played by the Georgian people, who in every critical moment set aside emotions and made decisions with special caution, wisdom, and patriotism, standing by the state and preventing Georgia's destruction. Therefore, the will of the Georgian people, our statehood, and national values are the main target of those who wish harm to our country because they know that the strength of our country is based on this. Accordingly, we must continue to act solely in line with our national interests and ultimately bring our country to safety,” said Kavelashvili.
