Parliament to discuss early termination of mandates for MPs from three political groups tomorrow

On July 5, the Parliament will deliberate on the early termination of parliamentary mandates for members of three political groups.

The agenda includes the termination of mandates for a total of 49 MPs from Unity – National Movement, Coalition for Change, and Strong Georgia. These MPs submitted their resignation requests back in November; however, the ruling Georgian Dream party has not yet reviewed their written appeals.

The issue will first be discussed by the Procedural Issues and Rules Committee, which will present its conclusions to the plenary session for a final decision.

According to the Central Election Commission's final protocol, following the elections on October 26, 2024:

Strong Georgia secured 14 mandates,Coalition for Change obtained 19 seats,Unity – National Movement won 16 mandates.

Additionally, the For Georgia party, led by Giorgi Gakharia, holds 12 seats in Parliament. However, like other opposition parties, they consider the October 26 elections illegitimate and refuse to participate in parliamentary activities. Unlike the other parties, though, they have not submitted official resignation requests.
