At the Vivamed clinic, a group of doctors created under the ombudsman’s guidance may visit tomorrow to assess the health condition of Mzia Amaghlobeli, the founder of Batumelebi.
This information was provided by Mzia Amaghlobeli’s lawyer, Juba Katamadze, after visiting the clinic.
According to Katamadze, Mzia Amaghlobeli wishes to leave the clinic, but doctors have requested additional tests.
“I visited Mrs. Mzia Amaghlobeli today. Her condition remains unchanged, and she feels stable. As her lawyer, I cannot professionally assess her health, but I found her in the room, walking around as usual, and we discussed various matters. She thanked those who stopped their hunger strike and asked everyone not to make sacrifices for her sake. Regarding her staying at Vivamed, I spoke with Mr. Zura Tchaidze, and the clinic itself requested that she stay for a while for further testing. Some changes were found in her gastroenterological tests. Mrs. Mzia wants to leave the clinic and return to the penitentiary facility. She says she is not asking for any privileges. Tomorrow, a group of doctors created under the ombudsman’s guidance may visit. Tomorrow it will be clarified what kind of tests will be necessary. They will receive the “Form 100,” which trusted doctors will review, and the rest will be determined tomorrow. Mrs. Mzia’s request is that if there are any tests left, they should be conducted today. Doctors will come tomorrow, and at the latest, tomorrow evening, she should be returned to the penitentiary facility,” Katamadze said.
Regarding whether food was provided to Mzia Amaghlobeli, the lawyer clarified that this did not happen today, but there was an incident when food was left for a hunger striker. Juba Katamadze stated that this is psychological pressure.
“According to the legal instructions, when food is offered to a prisoner and they refuse, the food is taken away, and they must sign the protocol. When I entered, I found the food left there. Later, we informed the penitentiary staff, and they told us the sanitary worker would remove it. After a while, the sanitary worker took it. This is, of course, a violation of the rules and could be considered one of the psychological pressure tactics, given that all rules were violated,” Katamadze added. He noted that Mzia Amaghlobeli is losing weight, but she moves independently.
For reference, Mzia Amaghlobeli was transferred to the Vivamed clinic two days ago for medical tests.
