The clinical director of "Vivamedi," Zurab Chkhaidze, stated that the hunger-striking journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli remains in the clinic for monitoring.
As Chkhaidze explained, after being informed about the possible complications, Amaghlobeli took the doctors' recommendations into account and decided to continue treatment and monitoring at "Vivamedi."
He emphasized that complications could arise at any time, and Amaghlobeli has been informed about this risk.
"Her health condition remains unchanged. She feels quite strong, but she has certain complaints characteristic of prolonged starvation. As you know, on Friday, she was examined by a group of doctors from the Public Defender's office. Then, we had a meeting with them, and joint recommendations were issued, which the patient agreed to. The main goal is to maintain vital functions and prevent complications that typically occur due to prolonged starvation.
This morning, together with the attending physician, we reviewed everything, conducted control tests, checked various parameters and laboratory results, and then discussed the necessity of continued monitoring and possible complications with the patient. Ms. Mzia is a very intelligent person and fully understands the situation. She took our recommendations into account, and the monitoring process will continue under the clinic’s supervision.
Yes, she remains in the clinic, and monitoring will continue. She accepted all the recommendations we provided and agreed to stay for further observation," Chkhaidze stated.
