Archil Gorduladze on the statement of the CoE’s Bureau of the Congress: I wonder if people in their countries curse police officers in the face, throw flares at them, and attempt to burn police officers alive, what will their reaction be?!

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Issues, Archil Gorduladze, spoke about the statement made by the Bureau of the Congress of the Council of Europe.

As he noted, the Georgian people will respond to any statement that is completely baseless, that is an attempt to directly interfere in the internal affairs of Georgia, as befits a worthy person.

“I wonder if people in their countries curse police officers in the face, throw flares at them, and attempt to burn police officers alive, what will their reaction be?! Or if someone else, even a Georgian politician, makes a statement in their own country that he does not recognize the elections, what statements will they make and what will their attitude be?! Accordingly, instead of making any statement that is completely baseless, that is an attempt to directly interfere in the internal affairs of our country, it would be better if these people remained silent, otherwise the response of the Georgian people will certainly be the one that befits decent people,” said Archil Gorduladze.

For information, the Bureau of the Congress of the Council of Europe issued a statement calling on the Georgian government to “pave the way for free and fair repeat elections at the national level.” According to the Bureau, “without a substantial change in the political environment, local elections should be postponed.”
