Kakha Kaladze: Corrupt, embittered bureaucrats are furious because they have failed in Georgia; the people have said “no” to European bureaucracy – no one is afraid of sanctions

Sanctions cannot be a deterrent. When it comes to the country’s interests and future, no sanctions can stop us—no one is afraid of sanctions, said Kakha Kaladze, Secretary General of "Georgian Dream," in response to the European Parliament’s planned vote on a resolution regarding Georgia on February 13, which reportedly includes sanctions against certain individuals.

According to Kaladze, certain bureaucrats in the West are furious because they have failed in Georgia.

"We have repeatedly stated that sanctions cannot be a deterrent. When it comes to the country’s interests and future, no sanctions can stop us—no one is afraid of sanctions. We will always protect our country and our national interests. Certain corrupt, embittered bureaucrats (not all of them) are simply enraged because they have been defeated. They lost in Georgia—the majority of our people said 'no' to corrupt European bureaucracy and made a clear decision: they chose peace in the country, they supported continued development, they rejected sanctions, they refused to open a second front, and they did not want to see the catastrophic situation that is unfolding in Ukraine happen here," Kaladze stated.
