Giorgi Vashadze: I call on people who are on the list of sanctions - people, come to your senses, the deadline is until April, elections should be scheduled by April

“They say it does not matter,” because they are trying to maintain the image of strength in a fragile situation, so that we can assume that the sanctions do not affect them. How do they not affect them? - The deadline is until April: elections must be called, - Giorgi Vashadze, the leader of Strategy Builder, statedon Palitrannews, responding to the draft resolution “On the further deterioration of the political situation in Georgia”, which the European Parliament will vote on February 13.

According to Vashadze, the novelty is that if until now the European Union adopted sanctions on the basis of consensus, “now, the European Parliament says that this should be done at the national level.”

“There is fundamentally one big novelty in this resolution regarding sanctions. It addresses national governments regarding sanctions. Until now, the EU standard was that this was a common EU mechanism, adopted by the entire EU on the basis of consensus. The first exception was made regarding Georgia, and now the European Parliament says that everyone should follow this path. Hungary should not have the right to veto steps that are correct and adequate. This is a serious innovation in this resolution, which will make people in Georgian Dream, this self-proclaimed political grouping, think seriously. I would like to address people who are on the list or outside it - people, come to your senses, how do you imagine that you will get away with this and maintain this situation. Isn't this unthinkable?! The longer you delay the decision regarding new elections and political prisoners, the more difficult your everyday life will be. Now the deadline is until April, elections should be scheduled by April. After April, everything written in this resolution will begin to be implemented. The Council of Europe has adopted a decision equivalent to law, equivalent to a binding document for Georgia, in the form of a resolution. There is a short deadline until April - political prisoners must be released. God forbid, if something happens to Mzia Amaglobeli, an irreversible process will begin,” Vashadze said.

In addition, as Giorgi Vashadze states, the aforementioned resolution has established a new standard in the international arena and it talks about the steps that the European Union will take if Georgian Dream does not bring the situation out of the crisis.

According to him, "sanctions have worked and will work."

"Georgian Dream is taking a thousand crazy steps - adopting new laws, increasing fines, terminating mandates, arresting people, launching investigations into nonsense in the prosecutor's office - why is it doing this? The only way to show strength is to take such crazy steps, their task is to preserve the fragile unity they have inside and cause demoralization on our side, which is not working. What Kaladze and Kobakhidze are saying is stupidity, cowardice. When Kaladze, who has become a symbol of corruption, talks about the corruption of European parliamentarians, it is a shame, and when he mentions the word corruption, it is a mockery of society’, said Vashadze.
