There was noise and verbal confrontation at the session of the Gori City Council.
The citizens who attended the council say that they came to the session hall to ask questions, but they were expelled from the hall.
According to them, the confrontation started after the discussion of the agenda items ended, and they requested the right to speak.
"They are expelling us because we asked to speak. We came as citizens because we asked to speak. I think local government is for us to ask for the floor and express our opinions. Is that not allowed?!" one of the citizens said.
The chairman of the Gori City Council, Davit Razmadze, called the citizens traitors during the confrontation, and later told the media that traitors to the country do not belong in the council.
"Traitors to the country do not belong here! They are selling Georgia! Anyone who supports the EU resolution is a traitor to Georgia! No one has the right to betray the country! Everyone needs to understand this! They should have gotten my permission. I would have given that permission, but I couldn't tolerate the audacity of them breaking the regulations... What the EU did, they took double what they gave. What did they take?! A lot of things... including funding the agents who are fighting against Georgia today," Razmadze said.
