The patient's condition remains unchanged, and the physiological parameters are stable. However, given the length of the hunger strike, the patient certainly deserves special attention, said Zurab Chkhaidze, the clinical director of "Vivamed" Clinic, regarding the health condition of journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli.
According to him, the journalist, who has been on a hunger strike for 34 days, exhibits all the symptoms typical of a hunger strike at this stage, and the clinic is doing everything possible to prevent further complications.
"Hunger strike is a difficult process and is associated with certain risks. In this specific situation, it could lead to dysfunction of various organs, etc. The clinic is prepared and is doing everything to ensure full medical monitoring. Laboratory tests are conducted daily, and if additional tests are required, we are also ready for that. This prolonged hunger strike is already affecting her overall condition. She has all the symptoms typical of this stage of hunger strike. Our duty is to prevent complications, and we are doing everything to achieve that," Zurab Chkhaidze stated.
For the record, the Batumi City Court's judge, Levan Qolbaia, ruled the request by Mzia Amaghlobeli's lawyers to change the preventive measure inadmissible.
