Georgians wave the European flag, sing the European anthem, because they see that Europe is democracy, Europe is freedom, and Europe is a superpower that can protect them, - French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said during a discussion held within the framework of the Munich Security Conference.
In addition to Barrot, the discussion also included the Foreign Secretary of Great Britain, the Foreign Minister of Poland and the Foreign Minister of Germany.
“First of all, let me oppose any form of “fighting against Europe” and Euro-pessimism. Many of us, and we here on stage, are proud to say that we believe - Europe is a superpower. Europe is a place where COVID-19 was fought most effectively. Europe is a continent that has resisted a large-scale invasion by Russia, which was supposed to be almost the “world’s most powerful military power,” but which has failed to achieve its goals. When it comes to technology, where Europe is often seen as lagging behind, I would like to point out that this week, Monday, in Paris, $300 billion was poured by investors from around the world into developing massive computing capabilities in Europe. So we have lost some battles, but we have not lost the war, not even the technological war.
And if you are still not convinced by these arguments, look at the people outside Europe and how strong their desire for Europe is. While the Ukrainians are still heroically resisting Russia, it all started on the Maidan with European flags. And who has taken their place today? - The Georgian people, who are resisting every night a government that is trying to pull them off the European path. They wave the European flag, they sing the European anthem, because they see that Europe is democracy, Europe is freedom, and Europe is a superpower that can protect them as they move forward on the path towards the European Union," said Barro.
