Mzia Amaghlobeli: I am on hunger strike, freedom is more valuable than life – Fight before it is too late – Do not allow Georgia to be isolated from the civilized world

"I am on hunger strike, freedom is more valuable than life," – these words belong to the hunger-striking journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli, whose letter from prison was read by protesters during the ongoing demonstration on Rustaveli Avenue.

The imprisoned journalist, who has been on hunger strike for 35 days, sent a letter from the "Vivamedi" clinic to the public and protest participants, stating that "now is the time to fight."

She calls on the public to fight and emphasizes that people must be brave and support each other.

“The reason I am accused today is a result of the repressive, treacherous, violent processes against freedom of speech and human rights that have been unfolding over the past year and are taking root in our daily lives as dictatorship. I do not intend to accept the regime’s agenda. I am on hunger strike because freedom is more valuable than life. Any citizen who wishes to live in a democratic, just, European Georgia free from Russian influence could find themselves in my position. Fight before it is too late, fight wherever you are – inside the country or abroad, in villages or cities, in streets or classrooms, in public and work spaces. Be brave, protect and strengthen each other, do not allow Georgia to be isolated from the civilized world,” – Amaghlobeli states.
