The Minister of Finance and Economy of Adjara to local residents: A tragedy has occurred, but it is important to maintain peace – This is not a construction site, you are trying to speculate – Preparatory work is underway

In Batumi, in the so-called "Dream City," the Minister of Finance and Economy of Adjara, Jaba Futkaradze, arrived at the scene. As he told journalists, the site where the tragic accident occurred is not a construction area.

He stated that the construction of residential buildings has not yet begun, and only preparatory work is taking place on the site.

Jaba Futkaradze's appearance was met with dissatisfaction from some citizens, who were speaking out about the disregard for construction safety measures.

"After the first phase of construction work in the 'Dream City' settlement, the barracks were demolished. Various individuals are trying to stir up agitation here. Please calm down, this is not a construction site. The barracks were demolished on the 'Dream City' territory, and the residents have been relocated to apartments.

This is not a construction site; you are trying to speculate. Preparatory work is underway, and actual construction will begin with the necessary safety measures in place. The tender has been completed, and we are starting. A tragedy has occurred, and it is important for everyone to maintain peace. Calm down, the population is upset,” said Jaba Futkaradze in his conversation with the media.

“Two children have died, where is the safety?” – the gathered citizens addressed Futkaradze.

Michał Kobosko - we hope that your government eventually would either choose the European way, the democratic way or would resign seeing the number, the size and scale of the citizens' protests
