Irakli Kupradze: Two children fell victim to incompetence and evil—This is not a tragedy, it is a crime—The harshest accountability for all involved

"This is not a tragedy; this is a crime! Will we forgive? If so, this will not be the last crime. The harshest accountability for all involved!"—This is how Irakli Kupradze, one of the leaders of "Strong Georgia," responded to the tragic incident in Batumi's so-called "Dream City."

According to Kupradze, two children, aged 4 and 5, lost their lives due to incompetence and negligence.

"This is not a tragedy; this is a crime!

Just six days ago, in 'Dream City,' the Georgian Dream leaders—[Tornike] Rizhvadze and [Irakli] Kobakhidze—held a PR event, burying a symbolic capsule for a new construction project, spending 209,000 GEL on this spectacle.

209,000 GEL, people! Direct procurement, without any tender, yet they left the construction site with open trenches, pits, and no safety barriers.

Today, in these water-filled trenches, two children drowned. Two innocent lives, aged 4 and 5, lost to incompetence and evil.

Tomorrow morning, they will come out, mourn in front of the cameras, then shift the blame onto some low-level employee—just like they did with Marita, who died in Vake Park’s fountain; just like the child who was electrocuted in the courtyard; just like the child who died in Rike a few days ago…

Will we forgive? If so, this will not be the last crime.

The harshest accountability for all involved!" Kupradze wrote.

For context, in Batumi's so-called "Dream City," a tragic accident claimed the lives of two children, aged 3 and 6. According to Ramaz Jincharadze, a member of the Supreme Council of Adjara, the children were in an area where residents had been forcibly relocated. They fell into a sewer trench dug by one of the displaced residents.
