Civil activist Isako Devidze to the judge: You are not worthy of wearing the judge's robe; you should not be judging people

"You are not worthy of wearing the judge's robe... You should not be judging people. I am leaving the courtroom as a sign of protest," said civil activist Isako Devidze to Judge Koba Chagunava during a court hearing and left the courtroom.

Isako Devidze had previously been found guilty of an administrative offense during the ongoing protests. Specifically, he was fined 3,500 GEL for disobeying a lawful order from the police. Subsequently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs again found Devidze guilty of an administrative offense, this time for blocking the road. According to a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on January 8, Isako Devidze artificially blocked Rustaveli Avenue without any necessity. After hearing this statement, Devidze decided to leave the courtroom.

"Not only you and I remember my previous court hearing, but also the entire society, the Georgian people, and the history of Georgia will remember it. Therefore, I want to say that you are not worthy of wearing the judge's robe... You should not be judging people. I am leaving the courtroom as a sign of protest. You should not be a judge, and you should not be judging people," Isako Devidze told the judge.

Lawyer Lasha Tkesheladze also left the hearing along with Isako Devidze.

As for Judge Koba Chagunava’s response, he noted that "using the courtroom for performance is nothing new."

"I repeat once again: if anyone wants to express a disrespectful attitude towards the court and cannot restrain themselves, it is better to leave the courtroom. Otherwise, I will take appropriate measures. Everyone is given the opportunity to express their position," said Koba Chagunava after Isako Devidze left the hearing in protest.

The court hearing continues. It is worth mentioning that Judge Koba Chagunava is jointly hearing the administrative offense cases of two civil activists, Isako Devidze and Mariam Gachechiladze. Both are accused by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of blocking the road during the ongoing protests.
