Opposition politician Kakha Okriashvili has released a statement, which "InterpressNews" presents unchanged:

"Everyone who is interested in politics and the fate of our country can see that the global order is changing before our eyes. It can be said that the old order no longer functions, and for now, a new order has not yet emerged.

The whole world was waiting with anticipation for Trump's inauguration, yet his actions in the first days of his presidency have raised more questions than answers. Many approve of Trump's decisions, while others believe that he has betrayed democracy and the allies of the United States—Europe and Ukraine. What is truly happening will become clear in the future. For many reasons, I am not convinced that this is the case. The issue is more complex and multifaceted, but one thing is certain—every state prioritizes its own strategic interests above those of its allies. And if supporting allies either proves too costly or conflicts, even slightly, with their national interests, those allies are no longer a priority.

We, the Georgian political spectrum, must calmly observe these developments. The Georgian people are united in their vision for the country’s future—this is a European future, which is also enshrined in the constitution. It is very positive that there is such national unity on this particular issue.

In the future, when a normal and democratic political process is restored in Georgia, all political actors must agree to fulfill the will of the vast majority of our people regarding the country's foreign policy course. Since the people are so united, the political spectrum must also be unified—not only in strategy but even in the tactical steps taken toward achieving this goal.

Therefore, neither external forces, nor internal enemies, neighboring countries, or major states should be allowed to implement a "divide and rule" policy against us. No one should be able to gain influence over Georgia through Georgians themselves, as is currently happening through "Georgian Dream," serving Russia’s interests.

We must observe all processes calmly and without emotions. It is impossible for the resolution of this global turmoil not to lead to positive change. Our task is to ensure that Georgia is part of this movement toward a better future!" - said Kakha Okriashvili.
