I think this is a dishonest statement from this person [Radoslav Sikorski] towards us - there is nothing anti-European in Georgia - we are even better than Poland in establishing European standards in many ways, - this is how the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament, Gia Volski, responded to the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radoslav Sikorski.
According to him, a certain circle of the European Union is eager to see a change of government in Georgia.
According to Volski, Radoslav Sikorski's statement also serves this very purpose.
"I think this is a dishonest statement from this person [Radoslav Sikorski] towards us. It is directly related to certain processes that envisage the creation of some kind of antagonistic alliance towards Georgia. Himself, his wife, who is a member of the board of directors of a large foundation, specifically the NED, and those people who are focused on a specific task, to somehow create the kind of problems in Georgia that will change the government. There is nothing anti-European in Georgia. We are ahead in all indicators, including in relation to Poland - be it the fight against corruption, be it the fairness of the courts, or the transparency of governance. We are also better than Poland in many areas in establishing European standards. This is the main thing, and not the moods or perceptions that call young people to take to the streets. Sikorski's statement also serves this purpose, because firstly, the facts are absolutely different, and secondly, the society feels what the plan and task is - to change the government in Georgia, this is the determination of a certain circle of the European Union, and in this case, Georgia has already been turned into a polygon for confrontation with the US administration. This is reality and, unfortunately, this is what the Polish Foreign Minister serves,” said Gia Volski.
For information, the Polish Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, stated that they expect Georgia to reverse the anti-European trend that the Georgian Dream has established in the country.
He also spoke about “negative trends” in the enlargement process - in this context he mentioned Georgia and expressed his expectation that the anti-European trend in Georgia would “reverse”. He also expressed support for the pro-European aspirations of Georgian society.
“Unfortunately, we are also observing negative trends within the framework of the enlargement policy. We expect a reversal of the anti-European trend established in Georgia by the Georgian Dream - which came to power as a result of parliamentary elections of dubious standards. The Polish presidency [of the Council of the European Union] will support the pro-European aspirations of Georgian society”, - said Sikorski.
