Commenting on the fining of protest participants in recent weeks, the spokesperson said that “the Georgian authorities are resorting to intimidation tactics and violence against peaceful protesters, journalists, civil society, which the European Union condemns in the strongest terms.”
“What we have seen in recent months is that the Georgian authorities are resorting to intimidation tactics and violence against peaceful protesters, journalists, civil society. We condemn this in the strongest terms. We have also taken measures, including reducing contacts at the political level, freezing financial support for the government, and redirecting this support to civil society.
