Heavy snowfall has also caused problems in the Guria region: educational and childcare activities have been temporarily suspended, and evacuations were necessary in several areas

Heavy snowfall has also caused problems in the Guria region. As the Mayor of Lanchkhuti Municipality, Aleksandre Sarishvili, told Interpressnews, evacuations were necessary in several areas. He also mentioned that all municipal services are operating in emergency mode to address the issues promptly.

"Snowfall has created serious problems in our municipality. Currently, 20 units of equipment are in operation, but the roads that have been cleared are getting covered again due to the ongoing heavy snowfall. There are areas where we have not yet been able to reach with equipment.

All municipal services are involved, and rescue teams are mobilized on-site. We have received reports of several collapsed houses, and we have evacuated residents from some areas—some were relocated to hotels, while others moved in with relatives. Several villages are without electricity, and 'Energo-Pro Georgia' teams are actively working. We have suspended educational and childcare activities until Thursday," said Aleksandre Sarishvili.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Chokhatauri Municipality, Davit Sharashenidze, reported that central roads are actively being cleared. He also noted that educational and childcare activities have been suspended for two days.

"The heavy snowfall has caused problems. There is significant snow accumulation in the villages, and we have prioritized clearing the central roads, which are being actively cleaned. By the end of the day, we expect to have cleared the central roads in all villages, after which we will move on to the internal roads. Due to the heavy snowfall, we have suspended educational and childcare activities in Chokhatauri Municipality for two days," Davit Sharashenidze told Interpressnews.
