I think Kaja Kallas must answer the question of why her husband is doing business in Russia, why he has million-dollar revenues, and whether this is a case of double standards! – When your family is making millions in Russia and you take such a hardline stance, of course, we cannot call this an objective assessment, said the First Vice Speaker of Parliament, Gia Volski, in response to the statement made by the EU's High Representative, Kaja Kallas.

Volski called Kallas’s statement "shameless, dishonorable, and a political manipulation."

"I believe that Kaja Kallas should reflect and answer the question of why her husband was and continues to be engaged in business in Russia, why he has million-dollar revenues, and whether this is a case of double standards in general. Of course, she can demand sanctions, but against the aggressor. What caused the violence, what led to it, and why did it happen? When police were attacked with pyrotechnics, when streets and the parliament building were being burned, that was the initial foundation and cause of the violence. If you do not analyze this and simply take a stance in favor of one political group while trying to put another in an awkward position, then, of course, this is not just a case of double standards—this is shamelessness. This is dishonorable. This is political manipulation.

How is this possible? What did we do to deserve this? For what reason? Because Georgia maintained stability and did not allow destruction to unfold? Yes, there may have been some excesses, as happens in democracies. In Germany and France, so many people have died in such clashes. During these confrontations, people get injured—it is inevitable, and it requires proper analysis.

When you take such a hardline stance, while your family is making millions in Russia, especially after Russia invaded Ukraine, of course, we cannot call this an objective assessment," Volski said.

For reference, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, told journalists in Brussels ahead of the EU Foreign Ministers’ meeting that "the developments in Georgia are quite concerning, and we will discuss what more can be done."

"We have raised the issue of sanctions against those who use violence against peaceful protesters in Georgia—so far, we have not been able to convince two European countries to agree to this," Kallas said.

Michał Kobosko - we hope that your government eventually would either choose the European way, the democratic way or would resign seeing the number, the size and scale of the citizens' protests
