The terms "Gender" and "Gender Identity" to be removed from all laws in Georgia—The "Gender Equality Law" to be renamed "Law on the Equality of Women and Men"

The terms "gender" and "gender identity" will be removed from all existing laws in Georgia. Additionally, the Gender Equality Law will be renamed the Law on the Equality of Women and Men.

The legislative package was initiated in Parliament by deputies from Georgian Dream and People’s Power.

According to the proposed amendments, references to "gender issues" in existing laws will be replaced with "issues of equality between women and men." The term "intolerance based on gender" will be changed to "intolerance towards the equality of women and men." Similarly, the phrase "gender-sensitive" will be replaced with "sensitive to sex-based differences," and so on.

The legislative package has already been submitted to parliamentary committees for review.
