Parliament will no longer announce a competition for the selection of High Council of Justice members

The Parliament will no longer announce a competition for the selection of members of the High Council of Justice. Under the planned amendments to the Parliament’s regulations, the competition process will be abolished. Instead of a competition, the selection of five members of the High Council of Justice will be carried out through nominations by a faction or a group of at least seven unaffiliated MPs.

This change is included in a legislative package, which, once enacted, will exclude non-governmental organizations from participating in public decision-making processes.

Amendments in this regard will be introduced in 14 different laws. The initiative has been proposed by MPs from "Georgian Dream" and "People's Power."
