In February 2025, the inflation rate in Georgia was 0.4% compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate stood at 2.4%. This information was published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

Regarding core inflation, "GeoStat" reports that in February 2025, compared to the same period of the previous year, the core inflation rate was 2.1%, while the annual core inflation rate excluding tobacco was 2.0%.

"The formation of the monthly inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes in the following groups:

Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices in this group increased by 0.7%, affecting the monthly inflation rate by 0.2 percentage points.

Prices increased in the following subcategories:

  • Fruits and grapes (4.8%)
  • Mineral and spring water, non-alcoholic beverages, and natural juices (4.6%)
  • Vegetables and melons (3.3%)
  • Meat and meat products (0.7%)
  • Oils and fats (0.6%)
  • Coffee, tea, and cocoa (0.5%)

At the same time, prices decreased in the following subcategories:

  • Sugar, jam, and other sweets (-2.5%)
  • Milk, cheese, and eggs (-0.4%)
  • Fish (-0.3%)
  • Bread and bakery products (-0.1%)

Healthcare: Prices in this group increased by 2.3%, affecting the monthly inflation rate by 0.18 percentage points.

Prices increased in the following subcategories:

  • Hospital services (7.1%)
  • Outpatient medical services (2.4%)
  • Medical products, appliances, and equipment (0.2%)

Clothing and footwear: Prices in this group decreased by 2.8%, affecting the monthly inflation rate by -0.13 percentage points. Prices fell in both footwear (-3.0%) and clothing (-2.6%) subcategories.

The formation of the annual inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes in the following groups:

Food and non-alcoholic beverages: Prices in this group increased by 3.7%, affecting the annual inflation rate by 1.25 percentage points.

Prices increased in the following subcategories:

  • Coffee, tea, and cocoa (11.1%)
  • Vegetables and melons (9.7%)

Miscellaneous goods and services: Prices in this group increased by 7.6%, affecting the overall index by 0.38 percentage points.

Prices mainly increased in the following subcategories:

  • Insurance (12.9%)
  • Financial services (5.4%)
  • Personal hygiene products (4.3%)

Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: Prices in this group increased by 4.7%, affecting the annual inflation rate by 0.32 percentage points. Prices rose for both alcoholic beverages (6.0%) and tobacco products (3.3%).

Communication: Prices in this group decreased by 12.2%, affecting the annual inflation rate by -0.45 percentage points," the report states.
