The "Committee to Protect Journalists": The persecution of Mzia Amaghlobeli by Georgian officials is clearly punitive and she must be released immediately

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), an international organization, has issued a statement saying that the persecution of Mzia Amaghlobeli by Georgian officials is clearly punitive and that she must be released immediately.

The statement notes that CPJ condemns the court’s decision to prolong the trial of media manager Mzia Amaghlobeli and keep her in detention.

“The persecution of media manager Mzia Amaghlobeli by Georgian officials is clearly punitive and is even more outrageous against the backdrop of rampant impunity for brutal police attacks on journalists. The authorities must release Amaghlobeli immediately,” said Gulnoza Said, CPJ’s Europe and Central Asia Program Coordinator.
