According to the Institute of Earth Sciences and the National Seismic Monitoring Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Armenia, 45 kilometers from the Georgian state border.

They also reported that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.1.

The earthquake was felt by the population of Georgia aswell.
