The leader of the Freedom Square party, Levan Tsutskiridze, stated that they will continue cooperating with other opposition political forces even after establishing themselves as an independent party.
Speaking to journalists during the founding congress of Freedom Square, Tsutskiridze emphasized that "when the country faces such a great challenge, coordination among political forces is inevitable."
"We are in close consultations and coordination on key issues with all opposition political parties. So, of course, this remains in force. We have always said that when the country is facing such a serious threat, coordination is unavoidable. We will cooperate with all forces that contribute to the cause of saving democracy," Tsutskiridze stated.
He also highlighted the importance of cooperation between emerging political forces and movements.
"Since the election fraud became evident, we have been discussing the need for closer coordination between political forces. I believe this coordination should continue, but at the same time, cooperation between new political forces and movements is especially important. We all need to unite. What is significant is that Freedom Square was formed during the protest wave against the 'Russian law,' and now we see the emergence of other new social and political forces. This is a very important process, and all these forces must collaborate," Tsutskiridze stated.
Regarding the local elections, when asked whether Freedom Square would participate, Tsutskiridze said that "if nothing changes in the country, there will be no point in going to the elections and, therefore, participating in them."
"Before anyone makes a decision about this, I believe it's crucial that changes take place. If nothing changes in the country, if going to the elections makes no sense, if opposition voters no longer show up, then naturally, participating would be meaningless. That’s why I think issues such as political prisoners, the pre-election environment, repression and persecution, the independence of the Central Election Commission, and interference by the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in elections—these are the minimum issues that must be addressed before we can even consider elections," Tsutskiridze stated.
For reference, the political movement "Freedom Square" has officially become a party, with its founding congress takingplace today.
