A person accused of purchasing, storing, and distributing a particularly large amount of narcotic substances has been sentenced to 16 years in prison

The Khuluga District Court fully accepted the evidence presented by the prosecution and found the defendant guilty of the illegal acquisition, possession, and distribution of narcotic substances in particularly large quantities.

The information was released by the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia.

"The evidence presented during the trial confirmed that on June 14, 2024, the defendant illegally acquired and stored a particularly large quantity of narcotic substances, part of which was placed in the villages of Masauri and Ortabatumi in the Khuluga municipality for the purpose of distribution.

Law enforcement authorities arrested the defendant on the same day, and pretrial detention was imposed as a preventive measure.

The Khuluga District Court found the defendant guilty under Article 260, Part 6, Subparagraph 'a,' and Article 18, as well as Article 260, Part 7, Subparagraph 'a,' of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal acquisition and possession of a particularly large amount of narcotic substances and preparation for the distribution of a particularly large amount of narcotic substances) and sentenced him to 16 years of imprisonment," the statement said.
