Tengiz Sharmanashvili: The opposition has been instructed to view anything positive negatively, no matter what happens - Anyone who is against combating drug trafficking is against the future of Georgia

Any attempt to sell drugs will be strictly prevented in Georgia! – Anyone who is against this is against the future of Georgia! – This is what Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of the "Georgian Dream" party, said in a statement to the media.

According to him, opposition representatives are "instructed" to criticize the prepared draft law.

"Opposition representatives are instructed to view anything positively happening in Georgia in a negative light. They have no desire to fight for the future of this country. They are obsessed with fulfilling global [powers’] instructions. How can the whole country not unite when we are dealing with drug trafficking? Any attempt to sell drugs will be strictly prevented in Georgia. Anyone who is against this is against the future of Georgia. Therefore, we will continue this policy.

As for the users – nothing will change with them, their interaction will be regulated. They will be restricted in certain rights. Is anyone against a drug user going to school? Is anyone against a drug user driving a vehicle? Anyone who is against this is against Georgia," said Sharmanashvili.

For your information, today, March 14, the "Georgian Dream" legislative package, which, if implemented, will tighten responsibility for actions related to drugs, including the cannabis plant and marijuana, will be discussed by the Parliament’s Human Rights Protection Committee. The changes will be made to eight different laws, including the Criminal Code, the Administrative Offenses Code, the Law on Organized Crime and Racketeering, and others. As part of tightening drug policy, several new articles will be added to criminal law.
