"The state will be ruthless toward drug dealers! Those who oppose this stricter approach are, in fact, against a better future for our next generation," said the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules, Davit Matikashvili, in a statement to journalists.
According to him, fighting this harmful plague is very difficult without tightening legislation.
"Drugs and drug addiction are challenges that the state must adequately address. All the proposed changes and initiatives we see in the Parliament of Georgia regarding drug policy serve a single purpose—to protect our society and future generations from the harmful and deadly effects of drug addiction. Every restriction or stricter measure introduced in these new initiatives is aimed precisely at this goal.
As you know, the state must respond appropriately to every challenge according to the specific situation and time period in which society faces a particular problem. Therefore, those who oppose stricter measures are essentially against the better future of our next generation," Matikashvili stated.
