Police have detained one person in connection with the murder on Chavchavadze Avenue.

According to the information released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, law enforcement officers detained the accused in Tbilisi.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs has solved the case of murder.

As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested G.U., born in 1975, on charges of premeditated murder and illegal purchase, storage and possession of firearms.

The crime is punishable by up to 15 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that the accused shot two people with a firearm on Chavchavadze Avenue in Tbilisi, causing several wounds, after which fled the scene.

As a result of the injuries sustained, L.J., born in 1964, died on the spot, while G.Ch., born in 1965, was taken to a medical facility.

Law enforcement officers, as a result of the operational-search measures and investigative actions carried out in the case, detained the accused in Tbilisi.

The investigation into the facts of premeditated murder and illegal acquisition, storage and possession of firearms is underway under Articles 108 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia,” reads the information.
