The Prosecutor's Office has charged the suspect arrested for the murder of Levan Jangveladze on Chavchavadze Avenue in Tbilisi.
According to information released by the Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect, Gela Udzilauri, has been charged with aggravated murder and the illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of a firearm.
"The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on March 14, 2025, at 11:30 PM, on Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue in Tbilisi, the suspect fired multiple shots from a firearm in a crowded area at L.J. and G.Ch. During the shooting, other citizens in the vicinity were also put at risk. As a result of multiple gunshot wounds, L.J. died at the scene, while G.Ch. was transported to the hospital with gunshot injuries. After committing the crime, the suspect fled the scene.
Law enforcement officers arrested the suspect on March 17. He has been charged under Article 19-109, subparagraphs "b" and "l" of the Georgian Criminal Code (attempted premeditated murder of two persons using a means that endangers the lives and health of others) and under Article 236, parts three and four (illegal acquisition, possession, and carrying of a firearm). These charges carry a sentence of 16 to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
The Prosecutor’s Office will file a motion in court within the legally established timeframe requesting pretrial detention for the suspect.
