Maia Mtsariashvili: The prosecution's evidence in this case is below zero—Mzia is innocent! Anyone with common sense and reasoning will be convinced of this even without much proof

In this case, the prosecution's evidence is zero—below zero. Mzia is innocent! Anyone with common sense and reasoning will be convinced of this even without extensive proof," journalist Mzia Amaghlobeli’s lawyer, Maia Mtsariashvili, told reporters.

According to her, the prosecution did not even dare to present video evidence during the trial.

"At the previous court hearing, the judge dismissed all the defense's evidence from the case. He ruled that 18 witnesses should not be questioned, and also excluded 19 video recordings and multiple documentary pieces of evidence. The judge declared all defense evidence inadmissible precisely to avoid hearing from our witnesses, who were set to testify about police violence. The incident with Beselia was the result of certain actions, and the evidence proving those actions was presented, but the judge dismissed it all. The Court of Appeals was forced to accept our appeal, but only regarding the evidence.

The prosecution has nothing in this case. They didn’t even dare to present video evidence—they couldn't take the risk. They only extracted a 44-second clip from 'Adjara TV.' However, 'Adjara TV' has many more recordings, and they are still available today, but the prosecution is afraid to bring any of them forward.

In this case, the prosecution’s evidence is zero—below zero. Mzia is innocent! Anyone with common sense and reasoning will be convinced of this even without extensive proof," Mtsariashvili stated.

For context, Mzia Amaghlobeli, the founder of the media outlets "Batumelebi" and "Netgazeti," is being charged under Article 353 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to an assault on a police officer and carries a sentence of 4 to 7 years in prison.

As a reminder, Mzia Amaghlobeli was initially arrested administratively during a protest near the main police headquarters in Batumi. She was released about two hours later but was rearrested just minutes after her release near the police department.
