The former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielius Landsbergis, states that the meeting with representatives of opposition parties was an exchange of views and information.

According to Landsbergis, he wanted to show his personal commitment to Georgia's freedom and European path, which is important to him.

"I have a new role now, I am no longer an official of Lithuania, so I wanted to show my personal commitment to Georgia's freedom and Georgia's European path. This is personally important to me.

I am glad that the opposition agreed to meet, even though I am not in an official position anymore. However, in any case, it was useful in terms of understanding what they think is happening in Georgia, what their direction is, and what they expect from the West.

My main purpose here is – as you know, I have quite a good sense of what to expect from Brussels, what to expect from the West," Landsbergis said.

In response to a journalist’s question about what specifically he means by expectations from Brussels and the West, the former Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs answered, "Not much."

"I mean what practical measures Brussels could take, if that was your question. What practical steps can Brussels take, and what should we expect?

So, to measure expectations – what is to be expected and what is achievable. Changes are happening – Germany is waiting for a new government. How should we approach this, what can we expect from the Baltic countries, and so on. Basically, this was an exchange of views and information," Landsbergis concluded.
