The European Union wants to see the Georgian people in the EU, but the "Georgian Dream" is hindering this in every possible way, trying to distance Georgia from the EU so that the Georgian people can never fulfill their dream, which generations have had—to return to the European family, said Badri Japaridze, leader of "Lelo - Strong Georgia," in a statement to journalists.
He further stated that the EU is focused on ensuring that it is not the Georgian people who suffer, but the government.
"We met with the former Lithuanian foreign minister. We discussed the current situation in Georgia, the surrounding region, Europe, and the European Union. We also talked about how the ongoing conflict in Ukraine affects current processes. We discussed what the opposition should do to better showcase the Georgian people's will regarding joining the EU. We have a significant manifestation scheduled for March 31, which will mark the 34th anniversary of the referendum on Georgia's independence. It’s an important manifestation, a crucial stage in this protest and struggle that the Georgian people are leading to regain the state and secure new elections. I believe that the EU, given the extremely difficult geopolitical situation, is primarily focused on ensuring that the Georgian people do not suffer, and if anyone does, it should be the government and its representatives who are to blame for the fact that Georgia is not taking advantage of the unique opportunity for EU integration and is, on the contrary, moving further away from the EU. This is the result of the deliberate actions of the "Georgian Dream." In this situation, it is essential that we always maintain constant communication with our fellow citizens, so they can see the reality. The reality is that the EU wants to see the Georgian people in the EU, but the "Georgian Dream" is preventing this in every possible way, trying to distance Georgia from the EU so that the Georgian people can never fulfill the dream that generations have had—to return to the European family. The choice here is simple: between preserving the state and joining the European family or losing the state and returning to the Russian Empire. This choice has already been made by the Georgian people, we just all need to realize it and fight to ensure that we do not lose this unique opportunity," Japaridze said.
