According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, detectives (operational) and investigators from the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department arrested B.Ts., born in 1986, for the illegal acquisition and possession of a particularly large quantity of narcotic substances as a result of joint operational measures and investigative actions.

According to the agency, the crime is punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

"During the search of the detainee’s person, residence, and vehicle, law enforcement officers seized a particularly large quantity of drugs—35 packages of methadone. As part of the investigation, the police also confiscated money, adhesive tapes, and electronic scales as evidence.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 260, Part 6, Subparagraph 'a' of the Criminal Code, concerning the illegal acquisition and possession of a particularly large quantity of narcotic substances," the statement reads.
