The police arrested two individuals in Tbilisi on drug-related charges

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of various operational and investigative measures carried out at different times in Tbilisi, two individuals have been arrested on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, sale, and attempted sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotic substances.

According to the ministry, during the investigation, law enforcement officers purchased narcotic substances based on a court order and conducted covert audio and video recordings.

"Employees of the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, along with the investigative departments of the Vake-Saburtalo and Didube-Chugureti main divisions, arrested G.G., born in 1973, and T.B., born in 1985, who has a prior criminal record and is currently under conditional sentencing. The charges involve the illegal acquisition, possession, sale, and attempted sale of a particularly large quantity of narcotic substances.

The crime is punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.

Based on a court order, law enforcement officers conducted multiple controlled purchases of narcotic substances and covertly recorded the transactions through audio and video surveillance.

The police seized heroin and Alpha-PVP as evidence from the suspects’ personal belongings and from locations where the drugs were stored for further distribution.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 19-260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia," the statement reads.
