"We have high hopes for the new U.S. presidential administration. I mean President Trump’s administration, which has declared a relentless fight against the ‘Deep State’—a force that had deeply entrenched itself worldwide. We have all witnessed how it has orchestrated the overthrow of governments, revolutions, and terror against people in various countries. I see that this fight has begun, but how it will end remains to be seen. I am confident that President Trump will be successful in this battle, as the whole world is placing its hopes on him. Let’s wait and see," said Giorgi Sosiashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority, while discussing Georgia-U.S. relations.
According to Sosiashvili, the Georgian government is ready to restart relations with the United States from a "clean slate."
"We are ready to start relations with the United States from a clean slate because our diplomatic relationship spans several decades and has had many positive moments. These include our participation in various missions and numerous diplomatic steps. Now, everything depends on the new political course. As a sovereign, dignified nation, we will engage with those who treat us as equals. We will no longer accept being a nation that simply echoes whatever is dictated to us—this is out of the question.
I believe our government is ready for a policy reset. We are prepared to continue our relations with President Trump’s administration from a clean slate because we deeply respect America and the American people. The ‘Deep State,’ this terrible global war party, should not be equated with the United States and its people, as it has placed even the American people in a difficult situation.
You recall the statements made by members of the new administration and how they have conducted so-called ‘vetting’ processes in various countries, stormed courts, and overthrown governments. The Israeli leader himself pointed out how they used judicial power to change governments. Romania is a clear example of this.
So, let’s wait and see. Time will reveal everything. We have high hopes that our relationship will soon be reset and return to the level of a healthy Georgia-U.S. partnership. Our country is always ready to maintain a dignified relationship with our partners and friends, a relationship based on mutual respect," said Sosiashvili.
