Levan Machavariani on the investigative commission - Beso Khardzhiani’s son spoke about the tragedy his family experienced. What is most unfortunate is that these were not isolated incidents; they were systemic, and tens of thousands of families went through similar experiences

I address the youth and respectfully ask them to make time and follow the commission's work live on air, as opposition TV channels have trained them to believe they live under a regime. They should truly see what a regime means, what a totalitarian and authoritarian regime means, and then draw a parallel to how they live today in a democratic country, - said Levan Machavariani, a member of the parliamentary majority, while discussing the parliamentary temporary investigative commission.

According to him, yesterday at the commission’s session, the testimony of businessman Beso Khardzhiani’s son was difficult to listen to, and what is most unfortunate is that “this was not an isolated incident, but rather a systemic issue.”

“Yesterday was difficult to watch and hear. Mr. Bessarion Khardzhiani’s son spoke about the tragedy his family experienced. The most unfortunate part is that these were not isolated incidents. This was systemic, and tens of thousands of families went through similar situations. We heard directly what we already knew — as soon as such an unjust action was taken against Mr. Khardzhiani, our citizens immediately understood what was going on. But once again, we ‘repeated’ how they forcibly restructured his businesses, the inhumane treatment he received in prison, and how they forced him to transfer everything due to the inhumane treatment he endured.

In this case, the main figures are Udesiani and Adeishvili, but of course, this commission will continue its work. Within a maximum of 6 months, based on its evidence and materials, it will hand over its findings to the prosecutor’s office and relevant authorities for action, and we will uncover many such severe cases that families endured,” Machavariani emphasized.

For information, the temporary investigative commission of the Georgian Parliament, which is studying the activities of the regime and the political figures of the regime from 2003-2012, discussed the case of businessman Bessarion Khardzhiani yesterday.
