We all clearly remember how arrests took place during the night hours, followed by the entry of notaries into prisons, the re-registration of businesses, and at that time, Khazaradze and Japaridze were not involved in politics, but they had their role during Saakashvili's government. Therefore, all questions should receive appropriate answers, stated the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, commenting on the summons of Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze by the investigative commission.
According to Kaladze, everyone clearly remembers what was happening in terms of business during the rule of the "National Movement."
"We told the public during the election campaign that a number of cases would definitely be reviewed, and political parties that had committed treason against the country would be banned. We know what was happening, even considering the 2008 war. Therefore, there are many questions that need answers.
Regarding the attitude towards business, we all clearly remember what happened during the night hours—how arrests took place, the entry of notaries into prisons, and the re-registration of businesses. As for Khazaradze and Japaridze, they were not involved in politics, they did not represent political parties, but they had their role during Saakashvili's government. Therefore, all questions should be answered so that the public has complete information about everything," said Kakha Kaladze.
For reference, the temporary investigative commission of the parliament studying the activities of the "National Movement" government has summoned the leaders of "Strong Georgia," Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze.
The commission's session will take place on March 25, and the agenda includes discussing one of the cases related to pressure on business—specifically, the case of LLC "Magnate."
The session on March 25 will also feature the invited parties: the owner of LLC "Magnate," Jemal Leonidze, his lawyer Roin Migriauli, as well as Badri Japaridze and Mamuka Khazaradze.
Businessman Jemal Leonidze was the owner of a network of gas stations, "Magnate." According to media reports, during the rule of the "National Movement" government, the businessman had his property confiscated and was arrested. Leonidze was released from prison with the status of a political prisoner and has demanded the return of his confiscated property. Leonidze accused Mamuka Khazaradze along with high-ranking officials of the previous government of involvement in the confiscation of his property.
