Peter Szijjártó: Brussels' interference in Georgia's affairs is unacceptable because the government supports peace. We welcome the fact that USAID funding has been suspended, as it no longer interferes with the domestic politics of other countries

"Brussels' interference in the country's internal affairs is unacceptable, and this interference occurs because the Georgian government supports peace.

We fully support the Georgian government, despite Brussels' policies," said Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó during a joint briefing with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili.

As Peter Szijjártó noted, Georgia "provides the best example of how international, liberal, global dictatorship might try to exert pressure on a government."

"Georgia shows the best example of how international, liberal, global dictatorship might try to exert pressure on a government, because the country has patriotic sentiments. It feels pressure for national interests. There is also a political strategy to implement conservative and Christian ideas in the country. It was important that my colleague from Georgia invited me here. This is the best example of how scandalous the double standards in the world are, based on the fact that if liberal parties win in a country, it is ideal for Brussels, but if a national government wins, in Brussels' view, it's a crisis. This appalling approach in international politics was stopped by Donald Trump, who quickly and clearly stated that global dictatorship and liberal forces are a thing of the past, ideologies have changed, and we will do everything to support this policy.

Therefore, we welcome the fact that the sources and funding of USAID have been stopped. This financial flow no longer interferes with the internal politics of other countries, and sovereignty will no longer be violated. At the same time, we urge an investigation into who were the politicians, journalists, and organizations behind the use of foreign financial resources to exert foreign influence in countries.

In this spirit, I want to say that many people express dissatisfaction with the suspension of this funding. But the main thing is that we, Hungarians, oppose Brussels' policies. This funding and interference in internal affairs is a violation of sovereignty and the implementation of foreign interests in other countries. This is accepted.

It must be said that Brussels' interference in Georgia's internal affairs is unacceptable, and this interference occurs because the Georgian government supports peace. It has our very serious support. We fully support the Georgian government, despite Brussels' policies.

The suspension of visa-free travel for diplomats is unacceptable. We vetoed this opinion and will continue to do so in the future. We will continue this in the future. Georgia will always have our support. We welcome that Georgia should act according to its own interests.

There are 50 people working in Georgia who will receive appropriate training in Hungary. We have conducted trade worth 100 million dollars with Georgia, and this will increase by 20% this year. Another intergovernmental summit will be held in Budapest and Tbilisi in June, and a meeting of our joint economic commission will also be scheduled. I want to thank the Minister very much, because you maintain this strategy despite the difficulties," said Szijjártó, whose statement is shared by the TV company Rustavi 2.
