The Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Levan Mgaloblishvili, met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Georgia, Massimiliano d'Antuono. This information was shared by the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
According to their report, the introductory meeting took place at the Ministry of Education and Culture of Abkhazia. The Chairman of the Government and the Ambassador visited an exhibition of works by artists displaced from Abkhazia at the Valeri Arkaniya Art Gallery and toured the auditorium of the Sukhumi Konstantine Gamsakhurdia State Drama Theatre.
In the official part of the meeting, Levan Mgaloblishvili spoke about the situation in the occupied Abkhazia and the main challenges faced by the local population. Special attention was given to the issue of the dignified return of internally displaced persons and the importance of international partners' support in this process.
The Ambassador confirmed Italy's firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia. The parties discussed future bilateral cooperation opportunities in various fields, including humanitarian and educational areas.
The meeting was attended by Alessia Bertaggia, a representative of the Italian Embassy in Georgia, and Davit Morgoshia, the Head of the Government Apparatus of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, as noted in the released information.
