Gakharia For Georgia: It has been proved once again how much the Dream harms Georgia’s national interests

It has been proved once again how much the Dream harms Georgia’s national interests, primarily the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, – reads the statement of the Gakharia For Georgia party.

The party emphasizes that “blaming one’s own homeland for starting a war, when Georgia has won all international legal disputes against Russia, is the heaviest blow to Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.”

“In particular:

- Justifies Russian aggression, occupation and ethnic cleansing, while absolving the occupying state of responsibility;

- Harms the prospects for the peaceful restoration of Georgia’s territorial integrity;

- Further complicates the possibility of IDPs returning to their homes;

- Harms the policy of non-recognition of the occupied territories;

- Contradicts the decisions made in favor of Georgia by the Strasbourg Court regarding the August 2008 war;

- Encourages the continuation of Russia’s aggressive policy and increases the threat of repeated aggression;

- Insults the memory of the heroes who died fighting Russian aggression and their dedication in the fight to defend the homeland;

- Disrespects the dignity of the Georgian army and contributes to the weakening of morale and motivation in the defense forces, which is a necessary component of the army’s defense capability.

The shameful statements made by the deputies of the so-called Dream before the conclusion of the investigative commission have already been followed by a response from the so-called Foreign Ministry of occupied Tskhinvali, which demands the punishment of those "guilty" of unleashing the "military aggression", those who, according to them, gave the order to invade "South Ossetia". This was followed by the Russian Foreign Ministry's welcome of the shameful apology of Dream in the format of the Geneva discussions.

It has been proved once again how much the Dream harms Georgia’s national interests, primarily the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty," reads the statement.
