Parliamentary Temporary Investigative Commission to change its name along with mandate expansion

The Temporary Investigative Commission established in the XI Convocation of Parliament will change its name along with the expansion of its mandate. The commission will now operate under the following name: "The Parliamentary Temporary Investigative Commission for the Study of the Activities of the Regime in Power from 2003 to 2012, Its Political Officials, and Current and Former Officials Affiliated with Political Parties from 2003 to the Present."

The planned amendment to the relevant resolution on expanding the commission’s mandate was presented at today’s parliamentary plenary session. According to the draft resolution, the investigative commission will examine "the activities of the regime in power from 2003 to 2012, its political officials, and current and former officials affiliated with political parties from 2003 to the present."

As the presenter, MP Irakli Kirkhalia from the Georgian Dream party, stated during the session, the commission will no longer be limited to investigating anti-state and criminal actions committed before 2012, as its mandate will now extend to the period after 2012 as well. According to Kirkhalia, "The public will see what these individuals were engaged in even after 2012."

No questions were raised regarding the presenter's speech during the parliamentary plenary session.
