We have very good, reliable and important information from the Strasbourg Court for our hostages, we recently sent the case of Andro Chichinadze to Strasbourg, appealing the issue of his illegal detention, - the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights has admitted the complaint, - lawyer Eka Beselia told journalists in court.
According to her, the court will be informed about this today, which is considering the "case of political hostages and innocent people, defenders of Georgia's European future."
"This is a difficult political case, and in a situation where the Georgian national court cannot radiate or show us any minimum standard of justice, at this time, we have very good, reliable and important information from the Strasbourg Court for our hostages. We recently sent Andro Chichinadze's case, appealed the issue of his illegal detention and requested confirmation of the violation of fundamental rights under several articles protected by the European Convention. This concerns both the illegal restriction of his freedom, as well as a fair hearing of the case, political persecution, freedom of assembly and expression. We received confirmation in a very short time that the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights has already received the complaint, it has been registered, and it has been assigned a specific number. It is very noteworthy that approximately three days after the complaint was filed, there was a very important communication from the Strasbourg Court. We are carefully approaching this process, because the Strasbourg Court has a very high standard. We hope and expect that in the situation where the Georgian court and so far all the judges of this political court cannot show that they serve justice and not political persecution - these judges should know that justice does not end here and that we have the power, opportunity and legal leverage to use the fair procedures of the international court," said Eka Beselia.
